Can you install a horizontal blind under a skylight?

Hi I have a roof skylight and a lot of het comes through. I want to put an insulating blind under it eg honeycomb.

Does anybody know if this kind of product works horizontally?

.. or if if could be adapted for that use? Or a better product?

Thank you!

Re: Can you install a horizontal blind under a skylight?

Hi @schroeds,

I've spoken to Velux who have indicated that the model of blind you've linked to will work in a horizontal orientiation, but unfortunately they are only designed for use with their own skylights. If your skylight is manufactured by Velux there may be an option, but they are quite specific to the skylight model that has been installed.

For some ideas I might point you to a previous discussion with some good options from @EricL.

Hope this helps,

Jacob

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @schroeds. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about skylight blinds.

It's excellent to see @JacobZ95 is on the case. It sounds promising that the blind can be used in a vertical orientation, but we'd need to know what brand and model skylight you have in order to determine whether it would work as intended.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
