The other looks similar to Wild lettuce, even has a few spikes on the back of leaf, but there is no white latex sap. Sap is clear. thanks for any help

Re: what are these 2 plants

Hi @Macca15 1

The one with the yellow buds looks like Canola or Mustard, which have come up wild at home, from seed possibly blown in the the wind.

The other one could be a sort of wild lettuce, maybe Rocket.

Cheers @bergs

Re: what are these 2 plants

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Macca15. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about plant identification.

@bergs and you seem to be on the money. The first looks like a wild lettuce, and the second appears to be some type of Brassica, likely a variety of wild mustard.

The takeaway here is if you didn't plant them, then you should consider them weeds and not consume them. Best to clear them out and prepare the bed for spring planting.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Re: what are these 2 plants

thanks guys.. Yes we had some canola seeds we gave our birds, so that would explain the yellow flowers, but the other definitely isn't wild lettuce. My Mrs makes essential oils using herbs and she does use Wild Lettuce. That's what confused her, because of the shape of the leaves and the spikes on the back of leaf, but ALL Wild lettuce has Latex white sap *which is the medicinal part".  these leaves don't, they have have clear sap. Also all Wild lettuce she's researched come from a main shaft, with leaves growing out of the main shaft, this one the leaves are all coming out separately,  It must be another seed I've fed the birds. (She throws out the old seeds in the cage in the garden for wild birds to find).  Thanks for the comments.
