Re: How to paint old cement tiles roof quickly?

Hello @Honest52

Due to the age and condition of the roof tiles, I suggest engaging the services of a professional roof painter. I recommend getting an assessment and quote on how much it will cost to clean, repair, prime and paint your roofing tiles.

Looking at the photo you posted the roofing specialist will possibly first determine the condition of the tiles and see if it can withstand high pressure cleaning. It will take longer if they have to manually clean the tiles. They will then check for areas that need to be repaired and replaced. The last step will be to calculate the area that needs to be painted.

The roofing specialist will have the knowledge, experience and equipment to properly repaint and restore your roof.

What are some of the equipment the roofing specialist will be using? They will probably be using long extendable ladders, scaffolding and safety harnesses especially if the roof is very steep. Some of the items they could be using will be petrol-powered pressure washers with custom hoses and wash heads. These produce more washing power than an electric one.

Other items will include a petrol-powered paint sprayer and accessories. They will be using personal safety equipment such as gloves, goggles, overalls and a proper paint mask.

If you are not yet prepared to have your roof professionally restored, I suggest holding off as doing a quick wash and paint could result in more damage in the long run.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric

Nice post  @EricL 👍

I'm just being curious @Honest52  - but why did you type "quickly?" Is there a reason for the urgency?

I snapped this photo last year - maybe it's not appropriate, but is this a case of doing things too quickly?

Not thinking of consequences?

He was preparing to paint. He had a bucket of mortar and was resurfacing tiled areas after blowing dirt and grime away.

I had a quick 'conversation' with him and then he turned his back.

Five seconds after taking the photo, that leaf-blower slid off the roof with a mighty crash.
