How to seal and waterproof pool before tiling?

Hiya team

Hoping you can help me, I have a small concrete plunge pool we have just built, what product do you recommend to seal and waterproof it before tiling over the top?

The floor is concrete, the walls are double brick and cement.

Floor area 12sqm, walls total are 16sqm

Many thanks

Re: How to seal and waterproof pool before tiling?

Hi @snowgoose62

I'm sorry but Bunnings currently does not stock waterproof sealers for swimming pools. Although the Bastion 15kg Exterior UV Stable Membrane looks promising, it's not meant to be used for long term underwater immersion.

The membranes used for swimming pools are specialized and their application is specialized as well. Incorrect application could lead to premature leaks or failure of the sealing membrane. In this particular instance, I suggest engaging the services of a swimming pool specialist and getting a quote on how much it will cost to seal your pool.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Thanks Eric, I contacted Crommelins and they advised to use the following which you sell?

Thoughts?

Re: How to seal and waterproof pool before tiling?

Hello @snowgoose62

My apologies for not seeing this product as it is a non-standard stock item and needs to be specially ordered at the special orders desk. I've contacted Crommelin's technical desk, and they suggested ordering the Crommelin CEMPROOF ULTRA FLEX-300 instead. It is a stronger product and is a highly flexible, positive side, 2-part cementitious waterproofing membrane formulated to deliver superior substrate adhesion and rapid re-coat and tile-over times.

Between the two products, I suggest using the Ultra Flex as there is no need to put reinforcing fabric.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
