How to oil water-stained outdoor furniture?

I have a Teak outdoor table which is showing signs of water damage, I am thinking that I need to use a product like this to protect it: https://www.bunnings.com.au/feast-watson-1l-teak-outdoor-furniture-oil_p1570654.

Is that the right product and is there any preparation I should do before applying the oil?

Thanks for any advice!

Re: How to oil water-stained outdoor furniture?

Hi @redburner17,

That would be the correct oil. Do a test section in an inconspicuous location to ensure you are happy with the colour. Your timber is exceptionally dry, so it will turn a much darker colour due to being nourished with the oil.

I'd suggest scrubbing the furniture down with Feast Watson 1L Woodclean, which will help disguise those water stains and make the surface more consistent. Remember your PPE when using this product, including safety glasses, a face mask, gloves, a long-sleeved shirt and trousers, and enclosed footwear.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Great, thank you for the advice.

Would you suggest anything other than just using a paintbrush to apply the oil?

Re: How to oil water-stained outdoor furniture?

A paint brush is your best bet, @redburner17. I'd recommend a quality one like the Monarch 50mm Woodcare Paint Brush.
