How can I tell if my old kitchen is a Bunnings kitchen?

How can I tell if my old kitchen is a Bunnings kitchen?

I just bought a new little house and it has an old kitchen (I think it is about 20 years old). It's been an air bnb and I'm going to keep using it as one, so I don't want to put in an entire new kitchen, but I would like to give it a refresh though with new doors.  I was hoping I could just order new doors and click them into place as a budget friendly option.

I went to Bunnings and the doors look very similar to the 'Country' Retreat kitchen but the sizing does not seem to match any of the cabinet sizes in the brochure. For example, the bank of 3 drawers are all 395mm wide. The top drawer is 120mmx 395mm the second drawer is 250mm x 395mm and the bottom drawer is 310mm x 395.  The 2 corner doors that are joined by hinges are 300mm wide each.

Is there any way I can definitively tell if it is a Bunnings kitchen?

If so, do the cabinets only come in standard sizes? (and have those sizes changed in recent years?)

Is it possible to still get doors custom made to fit at Bunnings? If so, would that be super expensive compared to 'off the shelf'?

Thank you to everyone

Re: How can I tell if my old kitchen is a Bunnings kitchen?

Hi @TracyT123

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your kitchen.

It is difficult to tell if what you have is a Bunnings Kitchen. However, I can help you with compatibility. Bunnings uses flat pack systems which come in pre-determined sizes. For example, the door sizes come in fixed sizes that are combined to work with larger cabinets.

So, if I had a 300mm door that works on a 300mm cabinet, I would need two of these to work on a 600mm cabinet. This system is applied as the doors get bigger 400mm, 450mm and works with 800mm and 900mm cabinets. It is possible to get custom sized doors, but the cost might be prohibitive if you are on a strict budget.

I suggest measuring all your doors for height, width and length and speaking to the In-Store Kitchen Specialist and getting them to examine the door sizes. I propose asking for a quote if you are curious how much the doors might cost.

The other option of course is to paint your doors with the Dulux Renovation Range. This is specifically designed to go over laminated surfaces.

Here are some fantastic kitchen paint revamps our Workshop members have shared:

Re: How can I tell if my old kitchen is a Bunnings kitchen?

Hi @TracyT123 What a great project, it's always nice making a house a home. Refacing the cabinets is a great idea to transform the space at a fraction of the cost. It might be helpful to take a door off and take it into Bunnings to compare to what's instore - this may help give you more a visual comparison and you can double check sizing with the special order counter - just a thought.

Otherwise I agree with @EricL painting is also a great option and the Renovation Range is really high quality, we used it to paint our pantry when we built it.

Re: How can I tell if my old kitchen is a Bunnings kitchen?

@TracyT123 also if you do replace the doors you can colour match and just paint the box faces so it matches.

Thank you so much @Renowayoflife . I've embarked down the painting path, so we'll see how that goes. I'll definitely use the Renovation Range
