How to use Merbau panels for screening?

Can someone please tell me how I could put Merbau panels along one side of the garden between the neighbours? Is it possible to make them free-standing? There is a short steel meshed fence there between the properties.

Re: Merbau panels

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Jane48. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing fence panels.

It's not really possible to have them freestanding. If you join them together, you might be able to span three panels wide, but then you'd need a solid post. What type of posts are on the current fence? Is anything strong enough to support the panels?

As a somewhat temporary solution, you could potentially use T steel fence posts hammered into the ground, but they wouldn't be as stable as concreted posts.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Merbau panels

Thanks Mitchell.

The short fence is very stable and they could probably attach to that if they were placed vertically. Would this work do you think please?

Re: Merbau panels

That's hard to tell from your description, @Jane48, but it sounds like a possibility. Could you tell us more about how the short fence is constructed? Perhaps you could provide some images so our helpful members can better understand what you're working with. Let me know if you need a hand uploading some pictures.

Re: Merbau panels

Thanks for your reply Mitchell. I shall probably have to use something else to screen the area we want to do and will get back to you if i need more advice, thank you
