How to open a locked safe with dead battery?

How can someone open a safe like this one when the battery has gone dead and you can’t find the override key? Do you need a locksmith?

Re: How to open a locked safe with dead battery?

Hello @kantoon

There is the possibility that your safe has an external battery connector underneath the keypad. You'll need a nine-volt battery to connect to the battery terminal. While the keyboard is powered on you can type in the combination. I've placed an image below to give you an idea of its probable location.

Another option is to call Yale customer service and order an override key. It's best to have the safe next to you when you order the key as they will be asking very specific questions about the safe.

The quickest method of course would be to get a locksmith to your home and get them to unlock the safe.

Please keep us updated with your progress, we look forward to seeing your safe operational.

Eric
