How to fill gap around rangehood and ceiling?

Had my rangehood fitted. How do i fill the gap between the rangehood and ceiling? I cant put a small timber piece and there is the cornice. any ideas? Can i use cornice cement to seal the whole area?

Hi @Sath,

 

You could try and recreate the cornice and ceiling sheet with plaster filler. It will take some time to get it just right. Make sure to protect the stainless ducting whilst sanding the filler to shape. I'd recommend applying several layers of painter's tape. Alternatively, running a timber bead around the top could work quite well. Something like 31 x 11mm Pine moulding should suit. You'd want it to be slightly taller than the cornice and about the same thickness as the gaps.

 

Any remaining gaps after you've installed the timber can be filled with silicone gap filler.
