Morning keen gardeners. We have many kangaroo paws in our garden but one has decided to outgrow the others ten fold. Is it okay to completely cut it back this time of year, even chop it into two or three separate plants and relocate.
The flower heads look finished. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Some pictures are attached.

Kangaroo Paws are quite hardy and can be replanted during spring, summer and autumn.
Trim away any damaged or diseased leaves. Larger or taller varieties typically sprout from a significant rhizome, resembling a fleshy root structure that may be partially visible above the ground. Once the flowering phase concludes and the foliage appears weary, feel free to trim them back to ground level, taking care not to harm the rhizome.
For propagation, employ a trowel to gently lift the plant from its roots. Trim both flowers and leaves to around 30cm. Use your hands, a knife, or the blade of a spade to divide the plant. Subsequently, replant each section in moist, well-watered soil.
The primary challenge in caring for kangaroo paws lies in effective watering. The goal is to ensure consistent moisture, especially during periods of heightened foliage and flower development, while avoiding excessive wetness. Contrary to a common misconception that kangaroo paws prefer dry conditions, they may tolerate occasional dry spells, particularly in cooler months. However, to thrive during their growth stages, adequate watering is essential.
For nutrition, an annual application of a high-quality native-safe controlled-release fertilizer is generally sufficient. Optionally, you can supplement this with occasional use of a liquid, organically fortified product during peak growth and flowering phases.
