Hi, anyone knows why my bathroom pillar was black and can I repaint this, and if I can, how to avoid this happening in the future?

Is the area damp to the touch at all? It appears you have an active water leak from the shower frame directly above that area, as indicated by the white calcium buildup. Is water leaking from the shower every time it's in use? If so, that would definitely be a reason why the timber is becoming wet and going a darker colour. If the timber isn't turning this dark colour due to moisture, then there could be another issue.
It would likely be best to try and determine the issue and resolve it before you go ahead and paint the frame. Can you go ahead and check to see if the timber is damp and whether there is an active leak from the shower screen?
