Hi, we have just had a laundry bench replaced. Old one had a rolled edge and the laminate went all the way under and back to the cupboard walls. New one has a squarish edge and laminate goes under the edge bit does not go all the way back to the cupboard walls. I am worried being in a 'wet area' this may absorb moisture. Do you think it would be advisable to seal it and if so what would you recommend? Thanks. (Picture taken looking up under the bench edge)
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Lee31. It's tremendous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about sealing a chipboard benchtop.
Sealing the edge would certainly help resist water penetration. You could either install a black edging strip or coat the area with a black oil-based paint. Painting the edge would likely be the simplest solution and provide the water-resistant coating needed.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
