How to remove mixer tap handle?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice on how to get the mixer handle off. I've taken the internal screw off using an Allen key but the tap seems stuck on the cartridge. I've sprayed WD40 on the inside a few times and tried wriggling it but it won't budge.

I'm hoping to eventually stop it from leaking by replacing the cartridge.

Any thoughts please?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @sauperpras. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about removing a tap handle.

I suggest giving it a slightly harder tug. It will pull off perpendicular to the wall, so try pulling it straight off. They can get stuck and be a bit stubborn, so it could take some effort. Failing that, you'd need to try and work your way around it using a flathead screwdriver to try and lever it away from the wall. Take care not to damage your tiles or the handle in the process. Placing a block of timber on the cover flange would give you a fulcrum to lever against.

Please let me know how you go.

Mitchell
