How do you clean your barbecue?

The weekend is nearly here. For many of us, the weekend provides the opportunity to fire up the gas or the charcoal, pick up the tongs and cook a barbecue feast.

But inevitably, there is also some cleaning required. How do you clean your barbie? And do you tend to clean it before you cook, after, or both?

Leave the burners on high after the cook to burn off as much as possible, then leave so it doesn't get rusty. Burners on high again prior to cooking with a thorough scrape down. Every few months it all comes apart for a good clean.

Flat BBQ Plate cleaning (no hood)

Heat BBQ. scrape off gunk. Salt the plate - use plenty. Add lots of water (CAUTION:whatch out for the super heated steam - keep people away)

Scrape the plate once the steam has gone.

Let the plate cool a bit. Using cooking oil, oil the plate.

I found this does a great job.
