Ben's Special Pad Thai Recipe

This is one of my Outdoor Kitchen favourites!  I'd love to hear if you try it out, and what you think.

Ingredients

Servings are per person. Adjust to preference.

  • 60 grams pad thai noodles (medium thickness)
  • Generous handful of bean shoots
  • 2 sticks spring onions sliced finely
  • 10 large prawns or equivalent weight in sliced chicken or pork
  • 1 egg
  • Chopped coriander
  • Sesame oil
  • Fish sauce
  • Pad thai paste
  • Lime juice
  • 3 teaspoons crushed peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds

Preparation

Prepare all ingredients in bowls before you start cooking! Soak Noodles in hot water 10 minutes before cooking. Rinse and allow to drain. Prep is key for this dish to ensure guests aren't kept waiting when you start serving one at a time.

Power tip:

BBQ Wipes are a great way to keep your wok clean in between sizzle rounds!

Re: Ben's Special Pad Thai Recipe

I'm really hungry now. Many thanks for sharing @Ben. I love Pad Thai and often cook it, although its never as good as the one I cooked in Thailand when at a Thai cooking school. Unfortunately it isn't always easy getting the same fresh ingredients here in Australia. Have you ever tried making the paste from scratch?

Re: Ben's Special Pad Thai Recipe

That's a great idea. I love Pad Thai and will give Ben's recipe a go. Think I'll try the sauce from the supermarket first... then try making my own sauce!

Re: Ben's Special Pad Thai Recipe

Hi @Ben,

I found my recipe card from the cooking school. Have a go at making the sauce! You should be able to find tamarind at good Asian grocers.

Re: Ben's Special Pad Thai Recipe

Thank you @Jason for the sauce recipe. I've always just used the various Valcom pastes for most Thai dishes I make.

Cheers,
Suja
