Soon we won't have to assemble furniture

Robots have been taught to assemble flat-packed furniture. Scientists in Singapore spent three years programming the robot - made of arms, grippers, sensors and 3D cameras - which assembled the frame of a solid-pine dining chair in about 20 minutes.

Ahh, but have they been programmed to argue with each other about the instructions or beat the chair against a wall if it doesn't fit together properly?

Re: Soon we won't have to assemble furniture

My marriage nearly ended after an afternoon spent trying to put a round trampoline together. Hours later with the circular steel frame still not connecting and my wife and I getting increasingly agitated at each other, I was calling the manufacturer's helpline to get advice, which was less than helpful. We were very lucky that a kind neighbour came to the rescue!
