Melon? Pumpkin? Or??

This plant grows from the compost. The leaves is some type of cucurbits, with smaller leaves than the Japs but larger than the cucumbers. The fruit is washed white in color, no strips.

What is it?IMG_20170226_100831.jpg

@QuailFlock

Deb reckons it could be a variety of squash (maybe) just because of how the stalks clump.  Pumpkin and melons don't do this.

Let us know when you chop it up.

Cheers'n'beers

Thanks @darylhewston, Deb and @CathD. May be I will wait till the plant die off to harvest it to solve the mystery.
Will keep everyone update.

Re: Melon? Pumpkin? Or??

How big is it?

Re: Melon? Pumpkin? Or??

With last week's hot weather, it grew to over 25cm.... I think it's a pumpkin of some sort.

Re: Melon? Pumpkin? Or??

Hi @QuailFlock,

Has the mystery now been solved?

See something interesting? Give it the thumbs up!

Re: Melon? Pumpkin? Or??

Not yet Jas. I picked the fruit two weeks ago and I am treating it as a pumpkin.
So it is now sitting at the laundry bench for another 2 weeks before I cut it open to reveal the answer!
Will update in 2 weeks. Very exciting!!
