How to turn an old bathtub into an edible garden

So our bathtub worm farm ( one of three ) on the edge of the carport was getting hot morning sun and unfortunately the worms were not impressed. We emptied out the tub full of worm poo ( Castings ) ( there were a few worms left ) as it was heavy to move with Castings and blue metal at the base of the tub for drainage.

We moved it out into more sunshine and converted it into a Raised Edible Bathtub instead.

Once moved and back onto bricks we replaced the Castings back into the tub as they will provide nutrients to the plants.

The next layer we put on was Cow Poo.

The next layer was organic compost.

We planted different herbs and greens in there.

And the last layer is Triple C Mulch.

I have loaded it as it will be well used and provide us a lot to cook and eat . 🐝🐝

Re: How to turn an old bathtub into an edible garden

nice work mate, our gardens are going great guns, we have plenty of land so have a few raised beds, making a few more larger beds, and have 4 paddocks that we rotate 2 on 2 off

love the bathtub idea, due to the fact its so easy for anyone to do it with the need for a tonne of space, and the soil mix would be a cracker from the old worm farm

have fun

Re: How to turn an old bathtub into an edible garden

Thanks heaps !!!!!

The Bathtub is raised on bricks so it’s a good height to work with. I highly recommend everyone to start a Worm Farm and make your own organic Fertiliser it’s truly amazing and I am extremely happy with it. It can be big or small, it doesn’t matter.

Love what you are doing as well and it is so important to rotate edible beds 😊
