DIY Walk-in Garden Enclosure & Irrigation system

It’s been awhile since my last post but have progressed in leaps and bounds with our latest DIY project. Planned to create a garden enclosure over along one side of the backyard. The area had already been raised and sectioned off with a brick edging so made sense to scale the size of the enclosure to match (7x3m – Go hard or go home!). The area is prone to possums with all the large trees and our little Cat loves to use this section as her person litter tray or dig pen so it had to be sectioned off and best solution was as a walk-in enclosure, walls, roof and all! Walls have Avery mesh around the outside still big enough to allow bees in, but protected from snail, slugs, birds and other larger animals.

Really proud of our structure which took a couple weekends to build. It’s now been a couple months since we built the structure and have a few herb and veggies growing really well. The watering was killing my time every day and with heading away on holidays soon didn’t want to see that everything we’ve raised is dead on our return. So we worked out and installed an irrigation system with various sprinkers, dribblers and free flowing spouts all on a timer. Working a treat!

Below are the series of photos from the empty space to the build and now growing! Pretty happy for first time gardeners.

Fantastic. It looks like a big space that will allow you to grow a lot of food. What are you currently growing @Andadams

Re: DIY Walk-in Garden Enclosure & Irrigation system

Many thanks, it's definitely a decent space. We've got a small produce farm happening, growing all the main things we eat on a daily basis. Everything from Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Zucchini, Chilli, Kale, Carrots, Beetroots, Broccoli, Spinach and Pumpkin. And in herbs - Mint, chives, Rosemary, Thyme, Basil and Parsley. We also have some Sunflowers down one end for a bit of colour. Open to any handy tips you may have for successful crops.
