Mack truck (wooden model)

Mack Truck 1.jpg

My first project at the XMRC Shed - a Semi Trailer Mack Truck Model.
I bought the Plans for this model quite some time ago but never seemed to be able to allocate time to make it at home, so it was ideal as my first project at the community Shed.
It has been quite a test of patience and skill and whilst there are stores where you can buy ready made wheels and axles and other components, I chose to build everything from scratch.
I did have a number of progress pictures leading up to this point but am still trying to recover those from a Hard Drive crash.
There is a lot of detailed work which can't be seen with the chassis and undercarriage for both the truck and the trailer.
It has been both frustrating and satisfying thus far and is a world away from my usual woodworking tasks.

Re: Mack Truck (Wooden Model)

Hi Every one

I am no true wood worker. I took up the scrollsaw a few years ago and do a fair bit of Intarsia work and fret wook i find at my age it is the only thing that i have patience with and i feel very relaxed when i am at the saw. I will post some pictures of some of my work a little later.

Re: Mack truck (wooden model)

great work @Wayne
it is amazing how many hours goes into the build of the truck, and it is so rewarding when it is finally finished.for the past few months i have also been making wooden toys and models,i am currently working on 6 firetrucks and a road train which all need to be completed for people before xmas.i am mostly using mdf because the orders requested to be painted.so undercoating and 2-3 coats of paint and sanding of each component becomes very time consuming, but also very relaxing.
keep up the great work wayne
cheers kel
