Changing old taps

Hey folks,

I've got some old bath taps that just sprung a leak - water keeps running slightly when the taps are turned all the way off.

The handles also need to be replaced, as the thread inside the old 70's ones have worn down, but unfortunately the replacement ones I've tried from Bunnings don't fit. So assuming I can remove the whole thing, I'm guessing i can just whack a replacement in there?

Have changed washers and taps before so am guessing this is a DIYable thing? Sorry the pics aren't very clear... just wanted to check before I go trying to remove anything

Cheers, Danny.
